Why Did a Man Threaten His Baby with a Knife?
What has happened to the parent’s in this world? I read a story on the Evansville Courier website where a man threaten his 3 month old son and the child’s mother with a knife. What could a 3 month old possibly do that would make someone pull a knife on him? If you don’t want to care for your child, fine leave him with the mother and find another place to live. If you don’t want to pay child support, sign away your rights as a parent.
I’ve read a lot of child abuse cases lately where the toddler has either ended up dead or in the hospital. I’ve heard stories where parents spank their children because they won’t quit crying at bed time. In that case, if they’re young enough you can give them a bottle or a sippy cup and they’ll calm down. Otherwise, just keep let them cry it out. They’ll figure out within a couple of nights that you are serious about bed time. Any other time, if you stay calm, they’ll more likely stay calm.
With older children, most of the time if they are acting out, they haven’t had enough attention or they are bored. Take them swimming or to a park. Teach them how to play card games. If you do things with them they are less likely to act out. For example, I had 2 fifth grade boys in my house today that both have “hyperactivity disorders.” They normally fight constantly. So, today they made cookies. I told them what to do and supervised them so they worked as a team. For the rest of the day, they didn’t even argue once. I’m proud of both of them.
