Transparent Government? They’re Blowing Smoke Again
Okay. So it’s really not like to me pay attention to politics or politicians. For years my opinion has been that politicians are overpaid idiots that for lack of any reasonable skills to support themselves went into “public service.” Well, I still have that opinion. Recently, I’ve realized that it’s even worse than that.
For years in Washington, politicians have been making laws and decisions that would normally anger people to know end. Then, to cover it up they make a massive deal out of something frivolous so the media would cover that instead of what’s really going on.
Now, we have a president that is blowing smoke for media attention and not
making any real change. Well, he is making the national debt a lot bigger. For what? I haven’t seen anything come out of that. Except that my bank, Wachovia, merged with Wells Fargo and now has higher overdraft fees and poor customer service. Wachovia used to be a good bank to have. Well, I guess he is trying to socialize the health care system. It hasn’t passed yet; and I don’t like doctors anyway.
So much for helping the little people, Mr. Obama. You’ve screwed us over worse than what we were to begin with. Oh and thanks for draining money into the auto makers. It only prolonged the inevitable. They were going bankrupt anyway because the CEOs can’t seem to figure out how to put their business before their paycheck. So now taxpayer money has gone into a big bottomless pit. I would like to point out that those CEOs still have their mansions, and I still have a trailer that leaks when it rains.
Anyway, I’ve checked into this “transparent government.” So far it’s been non-existent. Other than updating storm drains in small towns and making ATV trails in National Forests, what’s in that economic stimulus bill? And how do storm drains stimulate the economy? And what is in the credit bill? The only thing I’ve found is that now the credit card companies have to let you know before they screw you over.
That’s okay though. I don’t have a credit card for that reason. When the country’s economy completely crashes, I’ll still eat. I know how to hunt, fish, and grow a garden. At least then I won’t have to worry about paying for stuff I don’t own. I won’t have a paycheck for the government to pull taxes out of.

Honestly? Most of my friends (republicans and democrats) are also really upset with the government right now. It does feel like there are a lot of “smoke and mirrors” being shown to us. I’m livid at the car bailout, if you make cars that people don’t want to buy- why should you be rewarded for it? It’s money that could go to so many other places!
I predict that Obama will be a one term president.
You make a good point… if an auto maker makes a car no one wants they shouldn’t be able to rely on the government to put a band-aid on the situation…. I kinda touched on that in another post “Don’t Blame ME for the Economy”

Yeah… I don’t see Obama getting another term… I actually hope he screws up and get impeached….
Great Blog, btw!
As far as the car company bailouts, it was said that they should fail because they make cars people don’t want. Well, has anyone heard of CAFE standards? Corporate Average Fuel Economy is what it stands for. The government has, for years now, told the car companies how to make cars, what the fuel mileage should be, safety standards, etc…
I understand and accept the safety standards, but I think that the fuel mileage standards should be left to the free market. This is a perfect example of the government entering the private market and ruining it.
Ronald Reagan said it best when he said , “The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, “I’m from the government and I’m here to help.”
anticsrocks - I like that quote from Ronald Reagan… And you’re right all around… Your comment made me smile today!
