The Wal-Mart Experiment
Thinking to myself - Yet again Wal-mart is a trending topic on twitter. I’m not really sure why. However, in theory, I should be able to write about Wal-mart and put the link on Twitter with “Wal-mart” in the message and end up with a few extra hits. Let’s try it.
There are people that like Wal-mart and people that don’t like Wal-mart. I actually have mixed feeling about Wal-mart.
My local Tell City Wal-mart is the only place in town to purchase fabric. Why is this important? Because I’m a quilter. If I can find the fabric I need at Wal-mart, I would rather get it there than to travel an hour to go to other fabric stores. It sure beats paying for shipping.
Other than fabric, I feel that the large grocery part of the store is over priced. Yet for some reason people still buy groceries there instead of going to the smaller chains in town that have the same items for less money. Furthermore, the produce section in the Tell City Wal-mart isn’t that great. The selection is there, but most of the fruit and vegetables are rotten.
So, I don’t like that. So, there you have it. I like the fabric section, but do my grocery shopping at other grocery stores.
Ahh Wal-mart. The main problem is that it’s too difficult to get in and get out. Too many people try to talk to me and stand in my way. I think they could improve this if they would hire Jeff Dunham’s puppet, Walter, as a door greeter saying, “Welcome to Wal-mart, get your shit and get out.”
