Government-Run Health Care at Its Finest: Today’s VA Clinic

With all the talk lately about Obama’s Health Care bill, the “public-option,” and Government-run health care.  I thought I would take a few moments to share with you my experience with health care when the government puts their hands in it.

I have bumps on my arms.  They are NOT contagious because the person I share a bed with does not have them.  They are tiny red bumps that blister with clear fluid then pop and itch constantly.  It’s almost like chicken pox only smaller bumps and more itchy.   I don’t know if you know what it’s like to itch constantly for two weeks straight, but I can honestly say that it’s pure psychological torture.

So, after my most recent trip to the VA clinic in Evansville, I have decided that I have the qualifications to be a VA nurse practitioner.   This woman pulled out a big black book and compared the pictures in it to my arms.  She couldn’t find one that matched so she pulled out what looked like an anatomy text book to me and did the same thing.  After that didn’t help, she actually got on the internet and went to WebMD.

My thoughts were, “Really? I could have done this much at home.” Wouldn’t most doctor’s run tests to find out what is wrong?

After WebMD didn’t help her diagnose the bumps on my arm, she prescribed an antibiotic (which she and her nurse both called a steroid) and an antihistamine and sent me home.  She said if that didn’t clear it up she’d refer me to a dermatologist.

I took my last antibiotic (or steroid depending on who you ask) today and it didn’t clear up yet.  Needless to say, I’m not looking forward to the phone call tomorrow where I try to convince this woman to refer me to a dermatologist without me having to go to the Evansville clinic again.

I’m just saying, if it wasn’t for the love of my life, my knight in rusty armor with a bloody battle ax that probably needs sharpened, I would probably be off the deep end already.  I’m only 5′1″, the deep end of the swimming pool is probably not the safest place for short little me to be. Laughing

Top of My World for August

Today is September 1st.  That’s the day I get to tell you what my most popular story was in August.  Let’s think back to May 21st.  What was going on?  Right, Obama was passing bills without people actually reading them.  The story I wrote that day was the most read in August with 248 unique visits.  Wow!

The story was “Obama’s Secret Credit Bill Passes: What’s in It?” That day I had spent hours on the internet trying to see if anything in that bill actually pertained to me.  Well, I couldn’t even figure out what was in the bill.  So much for “transparent Government.”  A couple of days after posting the article a lady wrote a really long comment summarizing the bill.  After reading it, I concluded that the bill didn’t actually change anything.  Yep, Obama wasting taxpayer money to make himself look good.

Obama: He’s Causing Another Great Depression

At times when I’m talking to an Obama supporter, I feel as though I am talking to a wall.  When I say that our tax dollars shouldn’t be poured into failing companies, they disagree.  A statement I heard today was, “What is he supposed to do? Let us go into another Great Depression?”

Well, here’s my thought’s on that.  And you’re probably not going to like them. 

It’s not the government’s responsibility to step in when a company makes bad decisions and causes itself to go bankrupt.  All this “stimulus” money that’s going out here and there without any real results will have to be paid for somehow.  The only way the government gets money is through taxes.  So, guess what? This “stimulus” money is going to cause new taxes at some point.

Obama isn’t that great.  People think he is great because he is handing out money everywhere.  However, this money is tax payer money to begin with and he’s handing out trillions more than what the government is getting in taxes.  Basically, what Obama is doing is making the economy worse in the long run.  So if we slip into another Great Depression, it’s going to be Obama’s fault anyway.

Overall, what the last Great Depression did was brought families closer together and made our nation stronger.  If you lose your job because the company you work for goes under, you’ll have to find another one.  If you can’t find another job, it’s not the end of the world.  You’ll just have to figure out how to harvest wild berries and grow your own vegetables.  Wait! I already do that because I haven’t worked since February.  The quicker you get back to basics, the easier a depression will be for you.

Writing My 100th Post, While Cleaning up Puke

This is my 100th post on Today.com.  It’s probably not going to be as passionate as some of the other things I have written.  You can blame that on the boyfriend that decided to come home puking drunk today and thought saying, “I’m sorry I’m too drunk to eat dinner with you” would fix everything.

Nevertheless, I still have an article to write.  Between emptying puke buckets today, I have managed to view some of the news online.  So I figured I would sum it all up for you.  So, here’s a list of headlines and a brief summary.

“Michael Jackson Dies”

This headline has over 18,000 digs on Digg.com and still rising.  Needless to say I didn’t read it.  The local news on Fox 7 said he died in Los Angeles of a heart attack at age 50.  I’m waiting for a scientist to relate that to plastic surgery. 

“Farrah Fawcet DEAD at age 62″

This one isn’t quite as popular.  I’m sure there are many people that remember Farra Fawcet.  However, when she was popular, I was still watching cartoons like Scooby Doo.  My brother, however, called me today to make sure I knew this happened.  Apparently, he was deeply saddened by it.

“Adultery is a crime in South Carolina!”

It caught my attention.  Remember Governor Sanford? He admitted publicly that he cheated on his wife.  The punishment for adultery in South Carolina can range from a $100 fine to one year in prison.  Honestly, I think that’s something that should be kept among the parties involved, but he is the governor of South Carolina and should have followed the law.

Finally, since it wouldn’t be me if I didn’t mention something that Obama is messing up, here you go.

“As Obama Pushes National Health Care,
Most Americans Already Happy With Coverage” 

This was on FoxNews.com today.  Their opening line in it was,  

As the Obama administration pushes for a national health care plan, studies show that most Americans are overwhelmingly happy with their own health care — including most of the 46 million Americans without insurance.”  

So, I wonder why he’s really pushing for it?  

Well, I have to go check and make sure the boyfriend is still breathing.  So enjoy your day and try not to think about drunk people puking in a bucket. Undecided

First Step: Letters to Congress and Senate

Recently, I’ve heard of two groups wanting their individual states, Texas and Vermont, to secede.  I’ve also heard of more groups in other states.  This puts a little bit of a lump in my stomach because the last time states attempted to secede it turned into the Civil War, the War of Northern Aggression, or the War Between the States (depending on where you are from).  That’s the only war, except the French and Indian War, and the Revolutionary War, that the interior part of the United States, where I live, was actually in any danger. 

So, my thoughts are that maybe a sudden secession isn’t that great of an idea.  It may be a last resort, just not yet.  I’ve noticed a lot of people that are angry with the government at this time.  Most of those people have good reason to be.  What can be done about it?

Well, whatever your grievances are, write them down in the form of a letter.  Then, address it to your senator, your congressman, and Obama.  After that, mail it.  If you don’t get a response, write it again.  Keep sending letters until you get a response.

Obama’s Justice Department: What’s Really Going On?

I’ve been hearing a lot about the nominee, Ms. Sotomayor.  Obama appointed her to the Supreme Court, I believe.   According to an article on TheRightPerspective.org, she once made a ruling that denying all convicted felons the right to vote is racial discrimination.  Since there are felons in every race, that of course didn’t stand up very long.  After discussing the topic with my dad, he informed me that most of her rulings have actually been reversed.  Nevertheless, I was curious to see how her confirmation process was going.  The latest headline was that she quit an all women’s group because they did not allow male members.  Supreme court justices are not allowed to be a member of any group that discriminates based on race, sex, etc. 

Well, a different article caught my eye: Charges Against ‘New Black Panthers’ Dropped by Obama Justice Dept.nightstick.jpg

Apparently, on Election Day 2008 (the election where Barak Obama was elected), three members of the racially violent Black Panther Party stood outside election polls and threatened voters and attempted to block the polls.  One of them held a nightstick, or baton, and and tried to intimidate people with it.  The affidavit of one witness said,

“I watched the two uniformed men confront voters and attempt to intimidate voters. They were positioned in a location that forced every voter to pass in close proximity to them. The weapon was openly displayed and brandished in plain sight of voters.”

Other witnesses claimed that one of the Black Panthers turned toward a white poll worker and said, “you are about to be ruled by the black man, cracker.”

That last statement is particularly offensive to many white people.  However, Obama’s justice department dropped the charges against the three men.  A spokesperson for the Justice Department explained to Fox News that the man with the nightstick is no longer allowed to have it near a polling place. 

Imagine if the role was reversed.  What would have happened?

Independence: The Key to Being American

One of the many things that makes America great is the Americans’ strong sense of independence.  The attitude of “We can do it ourselves” resonates in every American from toddler to elderly.  To remain independent is the pride of every American.  Recently, in many of my articles I have been quoting Thomas Jefferson, “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”  Well, today I thought I would tell you the rest of the quote.

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”

In case you haven’t noticed it is the second, third, and fourth sentences of the Declaration of Independence of the United States.  This declaration of course isn’t actually law.  However, it basically listed the reasons why the colonies didn’t want to be a part of Britain any longer. 

I strongly believe that the founders of our country were on to something.  They realized that when the government interfered into the affairs of the people, the society itself would slide downhill.  Their sense of independence was passed one to every generation of American.

In recent history, however, the American people have become more and more dependent on the government, and the trend is getting worse.  We should not depend on the government to decide which banks and businesses fail.  Nor should the government be able to decide anything about the individual health care of a person. 

As an American you have the liberty to decide what you purchase and what you do not purchase.  Businesses know if their product is selling and if it is not.  So, if a business does not make a product that sells, it is their fault when it fails.  At no point does taxpayer money need to go into a failing business.

One of the things I always remember hearing as a teenager is my mother saying, “Read the fine print.”  That applies to anything you sign.  When you get a credit card, before you sign the application you have the ability to read it or have someone read it to you.  All of them list the late fees, over limit fees, variable rates, etc.  Most of them even have a statement on them that says the company can change the interest rate for whatever reason it wants to.  If you signed that application without reading it, it’s your fault that you are in so much debt.  The government doesn’t need to bail you out of it.

On to health care.  If you cannot afford to pay one doctor, don’t assume you won’t be able to pay any of them.  Search for a doctor you can afford.  Most major cites have free clinics and some doctors actually charge based on income.  Most states already have a state option for health care that is just like what Obama is proposing at the federal level.  If it’s not broke don’t fix it.

Don’t blame the federal government for every concern that you have.  If you borrowed money for anything, including a house or a car, knowing that you couldn’t afford it, don’t blame the government.  That’s your fault.  If you lost your job because your company went bankrupt, while certainly devastating to your family, that’s not the government’s fault.  It’s the company’s fault.  At that point you may have to relocate to find another job depending on how big your company was.

All this being said, I firmly believe that the government is currently claiming they are taking care of it’s people, when actually they are trying to make it’s people more dependent on the government.  This should not be allowed at all.

North Korean Missile “Test” Aimed at US

Yesterday, I know I read an article that claimed that North Korea was going to test a missile on the 4th of July.  I remember it saying that it was going to be tested over the Pacific Ocean and pointed toward Hawaii.  As a matter of fact I read it on Yahoo News and forgot what source they listed.  However, when I went back to find it again, it wasn’t there.  So, either the details were wrong, or someone released too much information and had to remove it. 

Nevertheless, today I was tired of hearing about the scuffle in Iran that really has nothing to do with the United States.  So I searched again for articles about North Korea.  I had to use the news sites’ search boxes because news from Iran is over shadowing everything right now.

May 29, 2009- The website CNN.com/asia reported that a U.S. satellite had spotted “vehicle activity” as a ballistic missile sight in North Korea.  There were already missiles in the area, just no “missile parts.”  This is usually a forewarning of a possible missile testing.

After that tensions continued to rise between the U.S. and North Korea.  Many reports came in that North Korea actually tested a atomic bomb.  According to “officials” North Korea currently does not have the technology to attach a nuclear device on one of their missiles.

Now, back to North Korea wanting to launch a missile at the United States.  A Japanese source released the information that North Korea is planning a missile “test” over the Pacific Ocean in the direction of Hawaii.  Gathering information from Yahoo News and Fox News, the missile North Korea plans to “test” is theoretically capable of hitting Alaska.

According to a source on Yahoo News, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said that Hawaii and Alaska are both prepared to defend against such an attack, if it were to actually happen.  And of course, Obama is just using stronger words to deal with the situation.

This is all I know for now.  Yes, I think North Korea has become a serious threat to the United States of America. If I learn more, I will most certainly share what I have.  I seriously wish the media would concentrate more on the threat from North Korea than what’s happening in Iran.  Iran doesn’t have missiles pointed at us, North Korea does.  Seems to me like the media should jump on that and wear it into the ground until North Korea backs down. Iran- Jump In? or Stay Out?

On my last post someone left a comment stating, “I conclude that you are a Republican.”  I can see where he came to that conclusion and he is very close.

I am actually a free thinking American and have my own views of the world around me.  Most of the time, I tend to agree with more Republican views.  Views like “The government does not create wealth” and it’s going to be the private sector of the country that actually bring us out of a recession.

That being said.  Once in a blue moon or so I do agree with a Democrat or disagree with a Republican. 

For example, Senator McCain was in a video on Fox News saying that Obama is not doing enough in Iran and should be backing the protesters.  I also read an article that Congress passed a resolution started by Republicans that backed the protesters in Iran and warned the Iranian government against violence toward it’s own people. 

My view is that we should really stay out of this. This debate is between the Iranian people and their government.  It has nothing to do with America, Americans, or American interests.  So, while I do understand that they got the short end of the stick and there have been rising tensions among the Iranian people for years, the United States of America does not have any grounds to step in on this one.

Obama made a statement to CBS News today that basically let the Iranian government know that the world is watching them.  How they handle this situation will affect how the world views Iran.  I completely agree.  Don’t get me wrong, I still think Obama should be impeached for various domestic issues.  However, on this Iranian issue I think he is handling the situation very well by not actually doing anything.

“Government Does Not Create Wealth” –People Do

Former President George W. Bush was on Fox News yesterday talking in a press conference.  He was very straight forward about his opinion of current President Obama’s new policies.  Mr. Bush made it clear that he did not want to criticise Obama as a person.  However, Mr. Bush was very frank with his opinion of Obama’s policies. 

“Government does not create wealth,” Mr. Bush said, explaining that the role of the government is to create an environment in which American people have the liberty to create jobs and income on their own.

I only saw a couple clips of his speech in a Fox News video.  From what I saw Mr. Bush seems to be more relaxed now than when he was President.  This of course is understandable to me.  If I were to attempt to lead a nation that just wanted handouts, I would be very stressed, too.  In fact, I would probably stutter when I talked, and misuse and make up a lot of words out of sheer stress.

The government’s job is defense of the nation, and creating and enforcing laws that protect the people.  Unfortunately, right now the government is trying to make the American people so dependant on it that they lose their sense of independence and liberty.  The scary part is that it seems to be working. 

There are actually people on Social Security Disability for alcoholism and and obesity.  These are not disabilities, these are life choices that those people have made.  Yet, here I am with back pain so bad that I can only sit up for about an hour at a time, and just got turned down for disability.  Instead of whining about it, I’ve filed an appeal with the help of a lawyer.  In the meantime, I am scratching around everywhere trying to find a legitimate work from home job that will keep my utilities on.  Mainly because I know that without people holding jobs and paying taxes, there wouldn’t be Social Security for people to fall back on when they are disabled.

Now that I’ve touched on taxes, let’s talk about the economy.  I am so sick of hearing people say that Obama will bring the country out of the current economic crisis.  Where do you think that money is coming from that he’s unsuccessfully pouring into failing businesses?  Straight out of the working man’s pocket is where it comes.  Obama is full of hot air with no positive action.

Former President Bush said yesterday (June 17),

“I know it’s going to be the private sector that leads this country out of the current economic times we’re in.  You can spend your money better than the government can spend your money.”

You know what?  He’s right.  American’s know when to save and when to spend.  We know what we want and what we need.  It’s the companies that make those products that we want and need and can afford that will be the most profitable.  The government needs to stay out of it.  The economy was starting to fix itself before Obama’s “stimulus bill” was passed.

They need to stay out of our health care, too.  A good example of government run health care is in the Navy’s Recruit Training Command (boot camp).  When I was there in 2002, they started handing out cough drops and cough syrup for pink eye.  That was the standard of what you got when you went to medical no matter what it was.  I even got a “cold pack” for having an infected blister on my heal.

Iran Issue is a Media Distraction from Obama

In my last post I mentioned how the United States Government was staying out of the affairs of the Iranian Election.  As a matter of fact, I completely agreed with that action and still do.  It is an issue that needs to be handled in Iran.  However, in the Iranian Government’s latest “hate everything American” speech, Iranian government officials accused the U.S. of “intolerable meddling.”

Even President Obama, who I disagree with on most everything, said that becoming involved was “not productive, given the history of U.S.-Iranian relations, to be seen as meddling.” Basically, for his own reasons, he decided to stay out of it.

 According to the Evansville Courier, ”a State Department spokesman said the U.S. was withholding judgment about the election and not interfering in Iranian internal affairs.”

Not only did the State Department say that, but since the issue has risen they have actually stayed out of it.  So, what they are saying is actually the truth for once.

I guess this is showing two things: 1. the Iranian government doesn’t like America, and 2.they will lie and make themselves look childish to show it.

Then, in reading what I just wrote, I think there is more behind it.  For years Iran has accused America of the most ridiculous crap that usually gets laughed off the television.  So now that the media can’t seem to convince people to agree with Obama, I strongly believe that they are blowing this out of proportion to draw attention away from the fact that most of the American people don’t agree with any of Obama’s actions since he’s been in office.  Other countries erupt into civil war every time they have a leadership change, and it doesn’t end up every paper in America.

So, to make it clear that I am not an Obama supporter and I’m not going to let the media change my mind about it (like the town crier did in “Animal Colony“), the following is what I really think of Obama.

Although I do agree with Obama on the Iran issue so far, I still think he should be impeached for meddling to far into the affairs of private citizens, trying to forcibly take over large corporations, and wrongful allocation of taxpayer dollars to businesses that don’t deserve the money to begin with. The sooner we can get him out of office, the sooner we can rebuild the great nation on “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

Obama about Iran and “Torture Pictures”

My last two posts have been directed at letting everyone know that I think Obama should be kicked out of office.  I still have that opinion.  However, I don’t really want to wear that topic out just yet.  So, today I’m going to tell you about two points that I actually agree with Obama on.  And I’m sure he will probably change his mind by the time I finish writing this.

POINT #1 

In the past few days I’ve been watching the situation in Iran and not really commenting a lot on it.  I’ve been keeping an eye on Iran in the news for various reasons.  In the most recent election the person that wanted to change Iran got voted for but couldn’t take office.  Since many of the people currently voting for change in Iran have been arrested for stating their opinion more than a few times, I kind of look at the current protests turned riots as the “straw that broke the camels back.”  They are simply trying to get their voices heard. 

Since there are many dangers that can arise from that situation, yes we should keep an intelligent eye on it.  However, since Iran is not the United States, I do feel we should pretty well stay out of their business and let them handle it within their own borders.  So far, from what I have seen, Mr. Obama has pretty well done that.

POINT #2

The “torture pictures” that Pelosi wants to make public should be kept secret.  They are pictures of U.S. military members using “torture” methods to get information out of terrorist suspects.  If they were to fall into the wrong hands, they would endanger military personal over seas even more than they already are.  It would essentially add fuel to an already raging fire of middle eastern extremists hating everything American. There are some things in this country that remain confidential for the greater good of the American public, the American troops, and the United States of America.  This is one of them that should remain confidential.  Mr. Obama would like to have those pictures remain that way.

CONCLUSION

Alright, that’s all the agreeing with Obama you will get from me today.  I still feel he should be removed from office because he is putting the meddling government hands too far into the affairs of private citizens and businesses of America.  He should be required to produce his birth certificate in a public news conference.  Furthermore, I still feel he is an elitist and a socialist.  However, even when you completely don’t like what someone is doing, sometimes they do accidentally come up with one or two things that you actually agree with.

Health Care: There’s Nothing Wrong with It

americanflag.jpgAs someone who has just recently become interested in politics, I have sat back and listened to the debate over health care reform.  Today, however, I read an article called Obama Lobbies Doctors on Healthcare Reforms.  It was reported by Reuters.

There is a paragraph in the article about halfway down that says,

“The U.S. health care industry costs about $2.5 trillion annually but leaves 46 million Americans uninsured and with little access to medical care. Despite the cost, the U.S. system consistently ranks worse than other developed countries on many key measures.”

Both of those sentences are a load of BULL!

As I’m waiting on the slow paperwork to clear in the Veterans Affairs office, I am currently an “uninsured American.”  I am not completely enrolled in the VA health system and my private insurance from Jasper Rubber expired after I was off work for 8 weeks. I’m here to tell you, if I had a medical problem, I would still receive health care.

Even in my small town there’s a public health office you can go to and show that you are low income.  They will direct you to doctors that will charge you based on your income.  Furthermore, with my recent back problems I received a bill from a hospital for over $4,000 because my insurance wouldn’t pay for it.  From experience, if you as a patient step up and explains the situation, the hospital will work with you.  Even if you do have medical debts, if you go to the emergency room with with an emergency, they have to treat you.

Next, if you don’t have health insurance because you are self-employed but you are not low-income, you don’t have an excuse.  I’m constantly hearing television commercials for insurance companies offering health insurance for $40 to $50 a month.  By the way, that’s about what I was paying at Jasper Rubber on less than $25,000 a year.

The second sentence in that statement reads, “Despite the cost, the U.S. system consistently ranks worse than other developed countries on many key measures.”

“Despite the cost” means this sentence isn’t talking about the price of health care.  That was the previous sentence that I’ve already addressed.  This sentence is talking about the other “key measures.”  Those “key measures” aren’t even mentioned in the entire article. 

The only real issue with health care in this country is that it costs too much.  I’ve already mentioned ways around that.  The entire second sentenced is nothing but an inflammatory sentence aimed at angering Americans into thinking we need health care reform.  We do have the best health care in the world.  That’s why people come here from other countries get medical treatment.

America doesn’t need health care reform.  This is just another way that Obama is over stepping his boundaries as president.  The government shouldn’t have so much say in the affairs of private citizens and businesses.  Obama is trying to turn the American government into a socialist government.  I am completely appalled by this notion.  America was founded on “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”  By controlling so much of the American businesses, Obama is taking away liberty.  I think that’s grounds for him to be impeached.  The sooner the better.  Then, we can rebuild our nation on those three principals.

“Animal Colony”: Insert Obama as the “New Leader”

Normally, I don’t really read unless I absolutely have to.  However, I was listening to the Right Perspective one Friday night.  It’s a show that people can call in and explain what they think is wrong with America today.  The hosts’ opinions are based on the Constitution of the United States of America. 

Anyway, the first Friday I listened, they had a guest on the show that was advertising his book called Animal Colony.   The authors, Dr. Thomas Allen Rexroth and Mark Andrew Olson, called it “An allegory for today’s America.”  Basically, a group of animals weren’t being properly taken care of by their masters anymore.  So, they left and established their own colony in an abandoned Indian Village.  They found that working to grow their own food, teamwork, honesty, and family values really worked well.  The colony flourished, until a lot of it’s members decided they didn’t want to work anymore.  You can read more about “Animal Colony” at AnimalColonyBook.com.

So, after I finished reading this book I got to thinking about America.  I remember hearing history from my dad about Thomas Jefferson and the Declaration of Independence.  I remembered Dad teaching me that “all men are created equal.”  It’s the choices you make as a person that make you who you are.  If you choose to rely on the government for support for your whole life, that’s your own choice.  You always have the option of figuring out how to make it on your own.  That’s one of the many liberties this country has. 

You also have the Freedom of Speech.  If you don’t like the president, you can let people know why you don’t like him.  If you don’t like what other people are doing, you can tell them that and you can tell them why you don’t like it.  They also have the freedom to listen to you, ignore you, or offer their own opinion. 

At one point in this book the Animal Colony voted in a leader that promised the easy life.  In practice, however, this new leader used a lot of fancy talk without any positive action.  He was ruining the colony, like I feel Obama is ruining America today.  The new leader of Animal Colony was giving people handouts that didn’t deserve them at all, like Obama gave the auto makers and banks.  Every time someone stepped up to to say he was wrong, they were quickly hushed by the town crier (media). 

At the very end of the book, one animal was able to speak up loud enough for everyone hear about the problems with the Animal Colony.  He was offering the colony a vote to keep the new leader or elect the challenger.  He got his point out before the colony erupted into chaos.  His son pointed out that it seemed as though a few people were listening toward the end.  He thought they might think about it while they slept that night. 

So the challenger’s last statement in the book was, “If that is true, then we have one hope left.  Tomorrow, we vote.”

That last statement rang in my head as I slept that night.  I have concluded that, in my own opinion, the only hope for America is to somehow vote Obama out of office.  Then, we can start rebuilding out great nation on “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

Transparent Government? They’re Blowing Smoke Again

Okay.  So it’s really not like to me pay attention to politics or politicians.  For years my opinion has been that politicians are overpaid idiots that for lack of any reasonable skills to support themselves went into “public service.”  Well, I still have that opinion.  Recently, I’ve realized that it’s even worse than that. 

For years in Washington, politicians have been making laws and decisions that would normally anger people to know end. Then, to cover it up they make a massive deal out of something frivolous so the media would cover that instead of what’s really going on.

Now, we have a president that is blowing smoke for media attention and notanto-obama2.jpg making any real change.  Well, he is making the national debt a lot bigger.  For what?  I haven’t seen anything come out of that.  Except that my bank, Wachovia, merged with Wells Fargo and now has higher overdraft fees and poor customer service.  Wachovia used to be a good bank to have.  Well, I guess he is trying to socialize the health care system.  It hasn’t passed yet; and I don’t like doctors anyway.

So much for helping the little people, Mr. Obama.  You’ve screwed us over worse than what we were to begin with.  Oh and thanks for draining money into the auto makers.  It only prolonged the inevitable.  They were going bankrupt anyway because the CEOs can’t seem to figure out how to put their business before their paycheck.  So now taxpayer money has gone into a big bottomless pit.  I would like to point out that those CEOs still have their mansions, and I still have a trailer that leaks when it rains.

Anyway, I’ve checked into this “transparent government.”  So far it’s been non-existent.  Other than updating storm drains in small towns and making ATV trails in National Forests, what’s in that economic stimulus bill?  And how do storm drains stimulate the economy?  And what is in the credit bill? The only thing I’ve found is that now the credit card companies have to let you know before they screw you over. 

That’s okay though.  I don’t have a credit card for that reason. When the country’s economy completely crashes, I’ll still eat.  I know how to hunt, fish, and grow a garden.  At least then I won’t have to worry about paying for stuff I don’t own.  I won’t have a paycheck for the government to pull taxes out of.
